What Full Insurance (SCDW) Does NOT Cover

Full insurance is strong protection, but there are clear exclusions. If any of the cases below apply, the driver may carry full responsibility.

Main Exclusions

  • Off-road driving: damage caused off-road or on unsuitable roads.
  • Alcohol: any incident while intoxicated.
  • Drugs/narcotics: any incident under the influence.
  • North Cyprus: incidents/damage while in North Cyprus.

More Examples

  • Traffic violation causing accident: e.g., running a red light.
  • Interior misuse: burn holes from cigarettes or similar.
  • Negligence/misuse: irresponsible use of the vehicle.

Damage Reporting – Simple Rules

Minor cosmetic marks can happen during normal use and are usually not a concern. For bigger damage, reporting protects you and allows us to handle the case correctly.

  • Minor scratch / tiny mark: usually no report needed and no charge.
  • Major damage: dents, broken parts, heavy scratches → report required.
  • Theft / vandalism / glass damage: report required.
  • Major damage (reported correctly): covered under SCDW. Only the €29 processing fee applies.
  • Major damage (not reported): may lead to charges depending on the case and required handling.

Damage Examples (Minor vs Major)

Two examples so the difference is instantly clear:

Minor scratch on car rental – typically normal wear
Minor scratch: Small cosmetic marks are typically normal wear. No report is required and you won’t be charged.
Major damage on car rental – report required for insurance handling
Major damage: Damage like this must be reported immediately. Not reporting may lead to full responsibility.

Damage Processing Fee (€29)

The processing fee applies only when a major damage case is opened and handled as a formal incident/claim. It does not apply to minor cosmetic marks.

  • Damage Processing Fee: €29 (only for processed major damage incidents)

What to Do in Case of an Accident

If an accident happens, stay calm and follow these steps:

  • Stop safely and switch on hazard lights.
  • If anyone is injured, call emergency services immediately.
